Link is a playable character in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Link can also be faced in combat as an enemy. Please see [Link: Enemy page] for more information.
In-game description: Silent Knight. A skilled swordsman serving the royal family of Hyrule. Born to a line of imperial guards, he is renowned for his fighting skills and courage.
Recruited during mission or challenge: The Battle of Hyrule Field
Level when recruited: 1
Weapon when recruited: Soldier's Broadsword with attack 11
Available weapons: Link has 81 available weapons not including DLC. They can be sorted and ranked in all sorts of ways, and I'm not putting the whole list here. See the List of All Weapons for a breakdown.
Dash attack: When the player holds B while moving with left stick, Link runs. If B is released and X is pressed while running, Link will shield surf. He can still be steered with left stick while shield surfing. If the run or the shield surf is interrupted with Y, Link performs a distinctive single stab forward with his sword.
Aerial regular attack: While Link is in the air, the player may press Y for up to three aerial sword slashes before landing.
Slam-down attack: While Link is in the air, either paragliding or just beginning to fall, the player may press X for a slam-down attack.
Weak-point smash move [or moves]: Differs according to weapon equipped.
Unique ability (ZR aka right trigger): When ZR is held, Link draws and aims his bow. When ZR is released, he fires a volley of arrows. If ZR is held while Link is in the air, bullet time is entered and Link has about a second longer to aim and fire. Arrows may also be more damaging, but this requires further testing.
Special attack (A button): Differs according to weapon equipped.
Additional special ability gauges can be unlocked to a maximum of 3. The second special gauge is unlocked through [add quest link] and the third is unlocked through [add quest link].
Cryonis: Link spawns a Cryonis block underneath himself, which flings him briefly into the air. The player may immediately press B to use the paraglider or X to perform a slam-down attack. If the Cryonis block is spawned in front of a charging enemy, the enemy will slam headfirst into it and be stunned briefly.
Magnesis: [describe use]
Remote bombs: Link aims and throws four round Remote Bombs, one after another. The first bomb generally exposes a large enemy's weak-point gauge, and the rest can destroy most or all of the gauge on low-level foes.
Stasis: [describe use]
Note: Hold X during any one-handed Link combo to charge/power up the strong attack used.
Regular Attack 1 (never locked): Press Y once. Link slashes diagonally from right to left with his sword and moves forward slightly.
Combo 1 (never locked): Press X once. Link spins in a quick counterclockwise circle, cutting everything around him.
Combo 1 (charged version): Press and hold X. While X is held, Link's sword glows brightly and he holds his stance. When X is released, he charges forward while spinning in a circle, cutting everything in a larger area.
Combo 2 (never locked): Press Y then X. Link slashes diagonally from right to left with his sword, then leaps up into the air. Player may press B to open the paraglider, or press X again at the right moment, just after the paraglider prompt disappears, to perform a somersault in the air and a slam-down attack.
Combo 2 (charged version): Press Y, then hold X. After leaping up in the air, Link lands with his sword glowing as in Combo 1. When X is released, he performs the slashing circle as in Combo 1, then a brief charging-forward move with his shield in front.
Regular Attack 2 (never locked): Press Y twice. Link slashes diagonally from right to left with his sword, then left to right.
Combo 3 (never locked): Press Y-Y-X. Link slashes diagonally twice as in Regular Attack 2, then jumps onto his shield and surfs forward a good distance. He does this even if the player is not using the left analog stick to move him, but he can be steered in any direction with the left analog stick while surfing. This is a shorter (and perhaps more damaging? testing needed) surf than the dash attack described above.
Combo 3 (charged version): Press Y twice, then hold X. Link slashes diagonally twice, then performs a brief but powerful shield surf while X is held. If X is still held after the surf ends, Link holds his charged X stance with glowing sword. When X is released, Link performs an extremely quick Regular Attack 4 with his glowing sword.
Regular Attack 3 (never locked): Press Y three times. Link slashes twice with his sword, then does a brief spinning twirl in the air for his third attack.
Combo 4 (never locked): Press Y three times, then X. Link performs Regular Attack 3, then briefly charges his sword and performs a powerful circular spin attack.
Combo 4 (charged version): Press Y three times, then hold X. Link performs the regular version of Combo 4, ending with his sword charged if X is still held. When X is released, Link performs an additional spinning charge forward with his glowing sword, ending in the air. The player may time an additional X press before Link lands for a slam-down attack.
Regular Attack 4 (never locked): Press Y four times. Link slashes twice with his sword, performs a brief spinning twirl in the air while attacking, then lands and slashes forward again.
Combo 5 (unlocked through Keeping the Village Peace): Link performs Regular Attack 4, then a spinning charge and leap very similar to the charged optional move at the end of Combo 4, sweeping a group of horde enemies into the air.
Combo 5 (charged version): If X is still held when Link lands from the leap upward at the end of Combo 5, he lands with his sword charged. When X is released, he performs a semicircular slash forward and then a skyward strike.
Regular Attack 5 (unlocked through Hyrule Swordfighting Academy): Press Y 5 times. Link slashes twice with his sword, performs a brief spinning twirl while attacking, then slashes forward and slashes again slightly left.
